Recently, I learned of the tragic suicide of another young soldier recently returned from Iraq. My heart is very saddened because it did not have to take place. As was written in a newspaper article, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is being seen in 3 out of 5 returning soldiers. When a traumatic experience occurs, such as being in the height of battle and seeing someone you know being blown up or shot in front of you, a fragmenting of the spirit can take place and that fragment stays stuck in that moment in time. When conditions are duplicated the fragmented piece reacts in the same fashion as in that moment of trauma. With Reintegrative Energy Therapy (once Spirit Releasement Therapy or SRT), the fragmented piece is retrieved, cleared, healed and reintegrated. As a Vet and the ex-wife of a sailor, I understand full well the ridicule and the shame felt by service men and women suffering with PTSD. I asked a suicide survivor why he wanted to shoot himself in the head, and his anguished reply was "...to shut the voices up." PTSD is different from Multiple Personality Disorder (the phenomenon of vastly different personalities and behavior contained within one physical body), but the treatment is often viewed in the same light by the soldiers and/or their families.
